 Andy Okie Paul
The James Ranch started its quest for good horses when it bought its first cattle about 1890 in the panhandles of Texas and Oklahoma. For more than a century they bred horses for their own use. In 1995 the current owners Richard and Carolyn James decided to expand the horse operation. To that end, stallions were purchased and the broodmare band was enhanced and enlarged. The first commitment of the breeding program has always been to the quality of the horses produced -- not their color. Okie produces color about 80% of the time when crossed on mares of color. He has sired black, gray, dun, red dun, and red roan foals.
Okie's get are good-minded, quick to learn and retain what they are taught. They come with pleasant dispositions, good bone and muscling as standard equipment. No matter what the discipline - cutting, reining, roping or ranching - Okie babies are versatility champions. His get have even won money in Open 3D and 4D barrel racing events.
